The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional library items that provide additional opportunities to connect our community, engage people and inspire discovery, learning and growth. Please note all items are limited to one per cardholder. Call us (315-457-0310) or stop in the library for further information. 


Park and Museum Passes 

Explore Outdoors Passes

The LPL has Explore Outdoors Passes that allow free admission to the following Onondaga County Parks:

  • 
Beaver Lake Nature Center (one vehicle)

  • Highland Forest (four people)

  • Jamesville Beach Park 
  • 
Oneida Shores Park (one vehicle)
  • 
Pratt's Falls Park (four people)
  • The Rosamond Gifford Zoo (four people)

You can keep the pass for three days. Fees for programs other than admission are not included with the pass.

NYS Empire State Passes

NYS Parks Empire Pass card

One-day vehicle pass to more than 128 New York State Parks.

• Three-day loan.
• Nonrenewable.
• One pass per library card.
• 18 years or older.

The NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has launched a mobile app to provide visitors and prospective visitors helpful information about the variety of destinations, activities and adventures available throughout the Empire State's state parks and historic sites.

Corning Museum of Glass

Free admission to the Corning Museum of Glass.

The adult day pass allows complimentary museum admission when the library pass is shown, access to the express members-only line at the admissions desk and the opportunity for the holder to purchase a membership at the museum at a 10 percent discount. We've got three. 

Reservations must be made in advance by pass holders at the Corning Museum of Glass site

Everson Museum of Art

WelcometoEverson 1 1The family pass allows complimentary museum admission for up to two adults and two children to the Everson Museum of Art.

The pass can also be used at reciprocal Empire State museums. Find a list of these museums.

Seward House Museum

Seward HouseThe family pass allows for free admission for two adults and children to the Seward House Museum in Auburn.

Visitors must reserve their time in advance at the museum's booking page.

Museum of Science and Technology

The MOST library pass allows free admission for two adults and two children or grandchildren to the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology, in Armory Square.

To use the pass, show the enclosed card at the admission desk.

Samsung Galaxy tablets

Samsung Galaxy There are Samsung Galaxy tablets available for checkout as eReaders.

The Samsung Galaxy tabs are suited for many uses, including web browsing and casual gaming. It accepts various eBook formats, including Kindle.

Hotspots

A hotspot brings Wi-Fi with you wherever you may be. This allows you to hook your laptop, smartphone or tablet to the internet without having to track down a public place that offers Wi-Fi. Check the online library catalog for availability.

Chromebook

Chromebooks are powerful in their simplicity, allowing users to access the internet, especially Gmail and other Google services, quickly and easily, as well as limited capability for downloading and storing files. You can now check one out for a day to finish work or just test it out. Wi-Fi access is required to use it. Check the online library catalog for availability.  

Chromebook with a Hotspot

Thanks to CLRC and CNYFi, Liverpool Library has a limited number of Chromebooks available for lending that include a hotspot. You can check them out for up to three weeks.

Roku

RokuWith the use of Roku, you can stream movies and more on your TV set without a cable or satellite provider.

The Roku setup is capable of streaming more than 1,500 channels. Choose from a wide variety of movies, TV shows, music, sports and news. The LPL Roku kit comes with free Netflix.

HDMI Roku Premiere

The new HDMI will do everything the original Roku is capable of, plus it adds Disney Plus and Acorn TV to Netflix.

It also is 4K-capable for TV sets with that resolution.

All you need at home to use the Roku and HDML Roku Premier kits is high-speed wireless internet ... and your flat screen.
