How does Grab It & Go - LPL Garage Holds Pick Up work?
- Reserve items online or over the phone at 315-457-0310.
- Existing holds will be filled as soon as the items are available.
- Appointments are required. Once your items become available you will be notified by the library staff to arrange a two-hour time slot to pick items up. You can only pick up your holds during your assigned two-hour time slot.
- When arriving, follow the posted signs to line up in the garage.
- STAY IN YOUR CAR and wait for security to direct you when it’s safe to proceed forward.
- Park your car in the designated pick-up spot.
- Exit your car and walk to the table. Find the bag with your name.
- Grab your bag of items, get back in your car and exit slowly out of the garage.
What time can I pick up my items?
- Grab it & Go: LPL Garage Holds Pickup is available by appointment only.
- Pick-up times are in two-hour blocks. You may pick up your items at any time during the two-hour window.
- The library will notify you when your holds are ready.
- Pick-up times are limited to the following hours:
Mondays: 9:30-11:30AM and 12-2PM
Tuesdays: 9:30-11:30 AM, 3:30-5:30PM and 6-8PM
Wednesdays: 9:30-11:30AM and 12-2PM
Thursdays: 9:30-11:30AM, 3:30-5:30PM and 6-8PM
Fridays: 9:30-11:30AM and 12-2PM
Sat: 9:30-11:30AM and 12-2PM
Do I need a library card?
Yes, patrons must hold a library card registered with Onondaga County Public Library to use LPL’s pick-up service. If you do not have a library card, Liverpool Public Library can create a temporary card for you. Call the library at 315-457-0310 and our staff will help you with the process.
What materials are available for pick-up?
All physical materials currently on the shelf at LPL are available, including books, DVDs, audios and CDs. In short, anything that can fit in a paper bag. Note: This excludes some Library of Things items.
How do I reserve items for pick-up?
You can reserve most titles online or over the phone. Requests are limited to five items per patron at a time. Once your hold is available, you will be notified and staff will then make an appointment for you to pick up your holds in our garage.
Can library staff help me find something to read/view?
Yes! Contact the library or use the online form for reading and viewing suggestions.
Why is there a limit of five items?
In order to serve as many people in our community as possible, we need to place a limit of five items per library card. Each patron can reserve one appointment.
Will getting my holds take longer?
Holds will take longer. Materials dropped in the book drop or delivered from other libraries will be quarantined for at least seven days. To keep you and our staff safe, we are following national recommendations as to length of quarantine.
What if I want an item that is not at the Liverpool Public Library, but is owned by another OCPL Library?
Currently, we are only lending Liverpool items, to keep staff and patrons safe and to keep the GRAB IT & GO operations running smoothly. You can choose to pick up items located at another library offering curbside pick-up. You must call that library to make an appointment.
Any changes to this procedure will be posted on our website.
What if I want to pick up my holds at LPL, but I chose another library as my pick-up location?
If the materials you’d like to check out are available at LPL, please call the library or cancel your existing hold and place another hold in the reservation system and select LPL as your pick-up location.
Who can pick up my items?
Anyone you designate may pick up your items.
What if I don’t have a car, or prefer to walk to the library? Can I still participate in GRAB IT & GO?
We are offering walk-up service. Then use the garage entrance and follow the signs. Security will be available to direct you to the right spot.
What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?
If possible, bring someone who can get your bag with you. Alternatively, we can provide an accommodation such as placing bagged items on the hood or in the trunk of your vehicle. Please request this when you call.
How long can I keep checked out materials?
All items will have a loan period of three weeks.
All items checked out before June 9 will be due July 1, to match the loan period during our shut-down. After June 9, all items will be checked out for three weeks.
Items may be renewed online or by calling the library, provided no one else has requested them and if the renewal limit has not been reached.
What if I have fines or I’m over the checkout limit? Can I still check out materials?
Fine restrictions and checkout limits have been suspended during the pandemic response. If you would like to pay your fines, our online payment system is still available.
What if I no longer want to check out the items I have on hold?
Please call the library and staff will assist you.
Where do I return items?
The Tulip Street book return is now open.
For patrons with pick-up appointments, returns can also be placed in a designated spot in the garage near the pick-up table. When the pick up area is closed, please return books in the Tulip St book drop.
Please note that, for safety reasons, all items will be held in quarantine for one week before they are checked-in and will still show a status of “OUT” on your card. Your items will be returned and show a status of “IN” shortly after the one-week quarantine.
Can I drop off book donations?
At this time the building is still closed and for the safety of our patrons and staff, we are not accepting book donations.
What is the library doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?
The contactless curbside pick-up model we are using provides maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff. Staff will use gloves and cloth face coverings in accordance with Onondaga County workplace safety policy and CDC guidelines.
All physical materials have been quarantined for a minimum of seven days, and materials that have been returned will remain in quarantine and on you card for at least seven days.
Patrons and staff should not approach one another and respect the need for social distancing. This may feel uncomfortable but is necessary to provide a safe, contactless pick-up service. If you notice patrons at the pick-up table, please remain in your vehicle until the previous patron has departed.
All patrons and staff are required to wear a mask when using GRAB IT & GO LPL Garage Holds Pick-Up Service.
