Plan Now to Join LPL for Winter Recess
Our librarians in the Children's and Family Services department have a big week planned for your family's Winter Recess.
What to do with the young ones is the subject of this week's library community column for the Eagle News Online/Star Review.

Wondering what you’ll do with the young ones when school breaks for Winter Recess?
The Children’s and Family Services staff at the Liverpool Public Library has done some advance planning for you.
“We are offering a number of activities to learn in fun and creative ways,” said department coordinator Joellyn Murry. “We have volunteers from Helping Hounds coming to teach us about interacting with dogs, and community educator Mary Rys to teach us about public speaking and the joy of exploring written verse. We are covering all the areas of STEAM with Nature Club (Science), Coding with Vidcode (Technology), Lego Building and Robotics (Engineering), Let's Create! Unpredictable Art (Art) and Kids Cook (Math).
“Plus we will have games at both Tween Scene and Chess Club. The week will end with an exciting finale -- a Chess Tournament for children ages 5 to 18,” Murry said.
There will be activities for those who don’t want to consult a schedule during vacation time, too.
“You can make a craft in the Children's Room any time you come in or take home one of our Discovery to Go kits to explore at your leisure,” Murry said. “Finish off your week by completing a row of activities on our Winter Reading BINGO board and earn yourself a packet of hot cocoa or some fun shaped marshmallows.”
Winter Recess Week at the LPL runs Monday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, Feb. 26.
