Magazines and Newspapers in the Library
Zinio Digital Magazines:
Download magazine issues to keep for as long as you want!
View the Video Tutorial.
Approximately 10 minutes, the video is full of demos and advice on searching the collection and organizing your downloaded magazines.
Click on the tab labeled "Magazines and Newspapers" on the LPL.org website, and click on the Zinio logo in the right column to get to the RBdigital Gateway to Zinio for Libraries.
If you are not inside the Liverpool Public Library, you will be prompted to enter your 14-digit OCPL library card number and 4-digit PIN on the "Patron Authentication" form. Your card must be a Liverpool library card. If you are inside the library, you will not have to enter you library card number.
The first time you use Zinio for Libraries, create two accounts.
You will need both a RBDigital Gateway account and a Zinio account, using the same email address. Your login credentials for both accounts are an email address and password of your choosing. You will probably find it convenient to use the same password for the two accounts.
The first account, created on the RBdigital Gateway page, is used to select magazine issues offered by this library, and to check for the availability of new issues of those magazines.
You can either click "Create New Account" in the upper right corner of the page with the magazine covers, or follow the prompts to create an account after clicking on a magazine title. You will probably get a "Welcome" message in your email, but there is no need to reply to the email.
After you select a magazine title on the RBdigital Gateway page, click "Start Reading," which will take you to the Zinio site to get the magazine, or click "Keep Browsing" to select more magazine issues before downloading.
After clicking "Start Reading", you will be redirected to the Zinio.com website.
If you have an existing Zinio account (the 2nd account), enter your email address and Zinio account password and click "Sign In."
If you haven't created the 2nd account yet, enter your email address and desired password and click the words "Sign up here." You will be prompted to enter your first and last name.
If you prefer to use your Facebook account rather than an email address, you can do that.
After signing in with the 2nd account, you will be viewing your magazine account on the Zinio.com website. You should see the cover image of the magazine you just checked out. Click the "YOUR LIBRARY" link at the top of the page to find your entire collection of magazines that you have checked out. These magazine issues will remain available to you for as long as you wish to keep them. See the Video for more tips on managing "YOUR LIBRARY" of magazines in Zinio.
Please note that Zinio.com is a commercial magazine seller, and when you are on the Zinio.com website you will see many other titles that are available for purchase from Zinio. These offerings are totally separate from the Zinio for Libraries program we are offering.
To checkout another magazine, return to the RBDigital Gateway website, which you can find either by returning to a previous tab in your browser window or by returning to LPL.org/magazines-and-newspapers.
Remember the passwords for your two accounts!
Everyone forgets, and if you forget your passwords both RBdigital and Zinio will allow you to reset your passwords. But if you need to do this, remember that you are actually working with two accounts.
If you click the "Forgot your password" link on the RBdigital Gateway page, you will have a chance to enter an email address. You then must check for an email from Liverpool Public Library, with Subject "RBdigital Account Reset". After clicking the link in the email, you will be able to create a new password and login to the RBdigital Gateway page.
Best to try not to forget your Zinio for Libraries passwords!
Make selections from the RBdigital Gateway page.
Visit the RBdigital Gateway Zinio page often to check for new magazines added to the LPL collection, and to check for new issues of the magazines you have subscribed to.
Please note: New in October, 2013, back issues of the magazines became available. The issues that are available go back to the beginning of the library's Zinio for Libraries account. For most magazines, back issues are available back to the summer of 2013. Some magazine titles have issues back to the beginning of 2013.
Read your magazines!
Once you have downloaded magazine issues, you can read and re-read them by logging in on the Zinio.com site. It is not necessary to login to the RBdigital Gateway page to read issues you have previously downloaded.
Magazine issues that you have downloaded to your PC, Mac, or mobile device can be read whether or not you are connected to the Internet.
Zinio apps are available for PC, Mac, and mobile devices.
