Blarney's Blog

Welcome to Blarney's Blog

Who is Blarney, you might ask?
I am Blarney Killarney from the grand clan of Killarney Leprechauns.

photo_2.jpgA wee bit of Irish magic an' grand ol' fashioned Irish luck landed me in the Liverpool Public Library. Why might a leprechaun end up so far from Ireland? 'Tis a true tale that I tell. I was out for a stroll among the heather, when I happened along a couple of tourists. Now I have a little hobby of climbing into the backpacks of tourists because you never know what kind of interesting reading materials they might have, and I love to read. 'Twas so nice and warm inside the backpack that I found meself drifting off to sleep. Now, leprechauns do not sleep often, but when they gets their mind set to sleeping they can sleep for days. One minute I was reading snug in the tourist's backpack, and next thing I know I'm tucked away inside the pages of a book on a sale shelf inside a library lobby. To awake surrounded by books! What glorious fortune! 'Twas no small bit o' magic there. I no longer have to sneak into the backpacks of tourists. I have many lifetimes of reading materials here. I looked around for the best place to build my home, and noticed several nice young lassies above me, new friends, books from floor to ceiling-- what better place to call home?!

So that 'tis the tale of how I, Blarney Killarney, came to live at the Liverpool Public Library.

I'm a wee bit shy, so you will never see me, but you can write to me or visit my house located in the Children's Room of the Library.

Cheers! Mihaela. Thank ye fo' your wee note. 'tis grand to be six years old.

Thank ye Kaitlyn fo' the lov'ly drawings.

Cheers! Stephanie 'n Timothy. Ye be askin' why ye cannot see me. It 'tis leprechaun law that only our elders get the choice to show themselves to humans. We young'ns are invisible to all humans. But I be here, ye just can't see me.

Cheers! Emily.

'ello me friends! I thought spring be on its way, but lookin' out me window I see that winter is still holdin' on.

Stephanie, I 'ave plac'd a fake cat in me house like ye asked. 'tis made from a wee bit of me gold.

Someone ask'd if I liked unicorns. I do! Me thinks thay are brilliant.

Gabrielle, 'tis grand to be a leprechaun. I spend me days relaxin' with a good book, walkin' 'round the library grounds, or, when the weather 'tis really nice, sailing me coconut boat 'n the lake. The grandest thing 'bout being a leprechaun 'tis all of the notes and drawin's I get from me many friends, like you.

I rec'ived some lov'ly drawin's this week. Thank ye fo' the horse, the smile and the picture of meself.

Thank ye all fo' comin' to the wee St. Patrick's Day party. 'twas a grand time and was filled with all kinds o' fun. Ye did not see me, but I left me footprints 'round so ye would know that I be there. 'n thank ye for all o' the St. Patrick's Day greetings 'n wishes.

I got many a lett'r 'n color'd drawins'. It warms me heart to have so many fri'nds.

Taylor, 'tis grand that ye likes me hous'. Thank ye fo' the lov'ly drawin'.

Rachel, ev'ry room in me hous' 'tis mine. You won't see me 'cause I am invisible, but ye will know that I be around when ye sees that I have mov'd me furniture about.

Cheers! Elise, Lila, Colin, Logan, Maya, Katie, Jack, 'n Ashley.

Jack, I be sorry that ye are not getting along with ye friends. Have ye tried smilin' and talkin' to 'em? That rascal Rocky the racoon once took me lett'rs without askin', but I forgave 'im 'n now we be grand friends.

Becca, so cute that ye calls ye American Girl doll "Little Me" 'cause she looks like ye. I just took tea with me American Girl friends and had a most enjoyabl' tim'.

Riley, I mov' about me hous' with a wee bit o' magic.

Sammie, ye askin' 'bout pots o' gold at ends of rainbows. Som'times leprechauns play tricks on humans with their pots o' gold 'n they hide them at rainbow's end, knowin' 'tis hard for humans to find a true rainbow's end.
