The 3M Cloud Library makes borrowing eBooks fast and easy. Liverpool Public Library is the first library in New York State to offer the 3M Cloud Library to its patrons.

To get started, you will need to download the free 3M Cloud Library app for your device below, or visit the 3M Cloud Library Help Page.
TIP: When prompted for your User Name, enter your 14 digit library card number.
When prompted for your Password, enter your 4 digit PIN.

Do you have a supported wireless device with the 3M Cloud app on it?
You can use the 3M Discovery Station near the adult reference desk to browse Liverpool's 3M Cloud Library collections and check out or reserve items. You can also select and check out 3M Cloud titles from the Polaris Catalog. The next time you launch the 3M app on your wireless device, your selections will appear, ready to read. You don't even have to have the device with you to make your selection.

NOOK owners! It's easy to read eBooks from the Library!

Good news! If you have a NOOK Color, NOOK Tablet, NOOK HD, or NOOK HD+, you can now visit the Barnes & Noble website and  install the 3M Cloud app and the OverDrive Media Console app on your NOOK. You no longer need to connect your NOOK to a computer to download library eBooks. Select and check out your 3M Cloud or OverDrive eBooks from anywhere, even in the library!

The NOOK Simple Touch and the NOOK 1st Edition can also be used to read eBooks from the library, but you will need to use a computer and USB cable to get library e-Books onto your device.

OverDrive Catalog of Downloadables

The OverDrive Digital collection includes currently popular e-books in epub, Kindle, and pdf formats. You can download the e-books and check them out on your library card just like a regular book. The books can be read on many mobile devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Android. They can be transferred to many ereader devices, such as the Kindle, Sony Reader, the Barnes & Noble NOOK, and the Kobo eReader to name a few. 

OverDrive's app for mobile devices (including iPhone®, BlackBerry®, Kindle Fire, & Android ™) supports eBooks and Audiobooks.

Kindle and Kindle App Users: 
Checkout OverDrive Library Books, Download from Amazon

With your library card and PIN, browse the OverDrive Digital Collection and check out items for 1, 2 or 3 week loan periods. Use your Amazon.com account to redeem your checkouts for free from the Amazon website. 
A Wi-Fi connection (not 3G) is required for wireless delivery from Amazon to your reading device. 
You will need a USB connector and computer if your Kindle is not Wi-Fi capable.
Due to publisher restrictions, some titles may not be wirelessly delivered to your device and instead require USB transfer from your computer to your device. These restricted titles also may not be accessed on Kindle reading applications.

Checklist for Downloading Ebooks from the Library using the  OverDrive digital catalog

Before trying to check out and download, use the chart below to check to see if you have everything you need for success.

In all cases, you will need:

• an Onondaga County Public Library card and 4 digit PIN; find out how to get one
• an email address.

If you don't have an email address, it is easy to get a free email account. Try Yahoo! or Gmail by Google.
You will need to know your email address and password because email messages will be used to notify you when ebooks on your OverDrive reserved waiting list become available. Some of the required online credentials listed in the table below will require you to use your email account to activate them.

Project Gutenberg is a long-time favorite on-line source for downloadable e-books in the public domain. Visit our "Electronic Books" Explore a Topic page for a list of more sites that offter current and classic e-books for download.

The library has several eReader devices available, preloaded with titles. You can check out the devices and begin reading right away. View the right column for available devices and titles.

Using the Overdrive Media Console App on your Kindle Fire:

Why would a Kindle Fire user want to use the Overdrive Media Console  App? The primary reason is that you will be able to use the WiFi capabilities of your Kindle Fire to check out and download OverDrive library ebooks and audiobooks without connecting to another computer. The Overdrive Media Console App is the perfect solution for those Kindle Fire owners who want to checkout library books while they are traveling and are not able to connect to their computer.

• • Browse the Onondaga County Public Library OverDrive downloadables catalog through the App on your Kindle Fire.
  • Audiobooks from OverDrive can be downloaded wirelessly onto your Kindle Fire via the OverDrive Media Console App. Choose a title that is in OverDrive MP3 Audiobook format.
  • If you first obtain a (free) Adobe ID, you will be able to download OverDrive Adobe EPUB ebooks. Choose a title that is in Adobe EPUB eBook format.  Use the App to download the title wirelessly to you Kindle Fire, and read the book using the OverDrive Media Console App. Find out how to get an Adobe ID, if you don't already have one.
