The books are available on a first come basis. They can not be placed on hold or sent to another library. The check-out period is one week, but you can renew it once for another week. Limit of three Lucky Day items per person.

Man Booker Prize Announced!

The prestigious Man Booker Prize, first awarded in 1969, aims to promote the finest in fiction by rewarding the best novel of the year written by a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, or the Republic of Ireland. Hilary Mantel won the prize for the second time with Bring Up the Bodies, a work of historical fiction. She won the prize in 2009 for Wolf Hall. The winner was announced on October 16. The books are the first two installmemts of a triology that sparks Tudor history to life with its focus on Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII. Mantel is the first Brtitish author to win the award twice, and third author to do so overall.
